Wire fraud is unfortunately a growing problem in real estate. It starts when a hacker gains access to an agent's email account through a captured password which they then use to monitor the agent's emails to gather info about buyers. As a closing approaches, they then send an email to the buyer that appears to be from the agent but contains instructions to wire funds to the hacker's account.
